Tips

Use headphones: the left ear gets the base tone, the right ear gets base + beat.

The "beat" you perceive is the difference between the two tones. Effects on mood or focus are not proven; use it as a sound experiment.

Create binaural beats online

This binaural beats generator plays one sine tone in your left ear and a slightly higher one in your right ear. Your brain perceives the difference as a slow “beat”. Set the base tone and the beat frequency, put on headphones and press Play.

How binaural beats work

If the left ear hears 200 Hz and the right ear hears 210 Hz, you perceive a 10 Hz pulsing beat that is not physically present in either ear. It only works with headphones, because speakers mix both tones in the air.

What the research says

Studies on binaural beats and mood, focus or sleep have mixed and often weak results. Treat this as an interesting listening experiment, not a treatment. People with epilepsy or seizure disorders should avoid rhythmic audio stimulation unless their doctor agrees.

Hearing and speaker safety

Start with the volume low and raise it slowly. Tones are more tiring than music because all the energy sits at one frequency. Very low tones (below about 40 Hz) can push small speakers and laptop drivers past their limits, and very high tones (above about 15 kHz) can be loud even when you can barely hear them. Take breaks, never test at a level that is uncomfortable, and stop if you notice ringing, pain or rattling.

Binaural Beats Generator FAQ

Do I need headphones?

Yes. Each ear must hear only its own tone; with speakers the tones mix and you hear an ordinary acoustic beat instead.

What beat frequency should I use?

There is no proven best value. The presets (4, 6, 10, 16, 40 Hz) are common choices people experiment with.

Do binaural beats change brainwaves?

Evidence is limited and inconsistent. We do not claim any health, sleep or focus benefit.
